Within the scope of the implementation of Cabo Delgado’s Immediate Stabilization and Recovery Program, displaced and host families in the district of Pemba received fishing input kits and certificates from Governor Valige Tauabo.
Governor Tauabo delivered 100 fishing kits, 100 fish conservation, processing and marketing kits, and 20 boat engines at a ceremony in Pemba on Thursday, 25 July.
Governor Tauabo explained that the action aimed to facilitate the resumption of fishing by families affected by terrorism in the districts of Palma, Mocimboa da Praia, Macomia, Quissanga and Pemba.
On the same occasion, the fishermen who had benefited from training in fish processing were given certificates of participation.
Representing the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Samuel Akera reaffirmed his organisation’s willingness to continue providing multifaceted support to the programme for the immediate stabilisation and recovery of the province.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the president of the Siricate Selemane Fishing Community Centre expressed gratitude for the support and praised the efforts of the government and cooperation partners in securing the supplies and working towards improving the living conditions and income of families.
