Governor of Cabo Delgado Valige Tauabo this morning (08-05) met the population displaced by Sunday’s terrorist attacks in Nanduli, Ancuabe district, and asked them to return home, given improvements in the security situation.
Speaking at Metoro administrative post, Tauabo told the displaced that Defence and Security Forces (FDS) were deployed at all points considered critical to ensuring security.
“I see that most of the people here are from Ancuabe headquarters, and a few from Nanduli, where the attack took place, but I would like to ask you all to return to your homes, because security and public order are guaranteed,” Tauabo said.
Some of the displaced expressed willingness to return home, but asked the government to help with transport.
TVM reports that some of those displaced are in fact already starting to return, although one of the interviewees in Metoro complained that he had no money for transport.
