Cabo Delgado businesspeople are complaining about inequalities in the post-cyclone Kenneth reconstruction process, and are calling on the government to pay more attention to the province, whose economy is already suffering from terrorist attacks.
Cabo Delgado entrepreneurs acknowledge that Cyclone Idai was more devastating than Cyclone Kenneth, but are concerned about the preference in the post-cyclone reconstruction process they feel the government has given to the one at the expense of the other.
The government has recognised their concerns, but does not consider there to be any unequal treatment.
The Cabo Delgado business people’s concerns were raised during a meeting in Pemba led by the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources and held to publicise post-cyclone reconstruction opportunities.
