Cabo Delgado Judicial Court looks likely to spend most of 2019 occupied with trials related to the armed attacks in the region..
Three more criminal cases, covering a total of 65 defendants, all currently in custody, go to trial in March, Zacarias Napatima, spokesman for the Judicial Court of the Province of Cabo Delgado, has said.
For reasons beyond the court’s control, according to Napatima, the first trial related to the armed attacks was interrupted at the hearing of respondents stage but, according to forecasts, should resume on February 5.
Numbered 32/2018, this first criminal case related to the armed attacks in Cabo Delgado went to trial in October 2018, a year after the first shots were fired by the group of insurgents whose origin and motivations still remain largely unknown.
