Cabo Delgado: Citizen detained in possession of 180 kg of ephedrine – Radio Mozambique report

The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, have seized 180 kilograms of ephedrine, a chemical used to manufacture drugs such as amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The material was seized at a filling station on the ring road in the Cariacó neighbourhood as a result of investigative work by the SERNIC.
A Pemba businessman is being held in connection with the case. He maintains that the material seized is not a drug, but raw material used to make cakes.
