The Commander-General of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique, Bernardino Rafael, yesterday visited various Defence and Security Forces (FDS) positions in Cabo Delgado, where he passed on a message from the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief, Filipe Nyusi, urging them to stand firm in the fight against terrorism.
The visit focused on positions of the districts of Macomia and Meluco, and also aimed at strengthening morale, assessing health and combat readiness, as well as encouraging the forces in the noble mission of restoring peace and tranquillity to Cabo Delgado province, since 2017 the target of terrorist attacks.
“The Commander-in-Chief [Filipe Nyusi] encourages the forces to continue with their bravery and readiness in the fight against terrorism. He also congratulates them on their effort and dedication in the fight against terrorism and commitment to the defence of the homeland, independence and national sovereignty,” Rafael said.
In addition to talking with forces personnel in the districts, Bernardino Rafael also met residents, who he urged to discount the terrorists’ false promises of employment. They should rather denounce individuals or situations likely to jeopardise public order, security and tranquillity, he said.
