Although the Mozambican government has reinforced the Defence and Security Forces presence in all districts where attacks by the unidentified armed groups operating in Cabo Delgado have been reported, the terror has not ceased in the province, independent newssheet Carta de Moçambique reports.
Last week, the community of Matapata, Palma district, was again targeted, resulting in the deaths of four citizens and the kidnapping of three girls whose ages Carta was unable to ascertain.
According to Carta sources, the victims fell to what was described as a quick action by the insurgents, who were also able to capture the girls trying to escape after hearing gunshots.
Sources report that the insurgents burned a considerable number of huts in the community, and there is also speculation about an attack on a car on the Mocímboa stretch of the Praia-Palma road, without there being any casualties.
