This is yet another news bulletin about the neutralisation of the insurgents who have been causing unrest in Cabo Delgado for some years now.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of National Defence said defence and security forces had launched an artillery barrage on an insurgent camp.
“Following the Operational Plan in the northern part of the country, the Defence and Security Forces have launched a further artillery blow, delivered with a 122.4mm B11-P Cannon Battery and 120mm mortars, against a wrongdoer hiding place in the Miangalewa region of Muidumbe district in Cabo Delgado province. Several wrongdoers were neutralised during the operation. Operations continue, and Mozambique’s Defence and Security Forces continue to chase insurgents on the run,” the statement issued on Tuesday reads.
The attacks in Cabo Delgado, which have been ongoing since 2017, have already killed hundreds.
