Seven women were kidnapped on Saturday afternoon from Nacate village in Macomia district, Cabo Delgado province, where they were farming.
According to Carta sources, soldiers from the Alert Force of the Southern African Development Community (SAMIM) were deployed to the region on Sunday with the aim of rescuing the victims, but have so far been unsuccessful.
This is not the first case of abduction of women and girls in the districts affected by the terrorist attacks. Hundreds of women and girls have been kidnapped by the terrorists since the attacks began. Some of them have been rescued, while others have never been seen by their families again.
