Mozambique: Use of live ammunition against protesters is not normal – Justice Minister
The Mozambican government on Tuesday approved a decree revising the Administrative Tribunal fee schedule, Council of Ministers spokesman Filimão Swazi has said.
“The decree aims to update the current regime, with regard to the Administrative Tribunal’s cost table, approved by decree no. 28/96, of July 9, and its regulation approved by decree no. 29/96, of July 9,” Swazi said, without however revealing the new numbers.
Swazi, who is also deputy minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs was addressing the media at the end of the 40th ordinary session of the Council of Ministers, held in the Presidency of the Republic in Maputo.
Swazi said the government was set to organise the operation of the Administrative Jurisdiction Vault, an entity also created by decree at Tuesday’ s session in Maputo.
“The Custody of Administrative Jurisdiction is a collective body governed by public law, endowed with legal personality and enjoying administrative and financial autonomy, managed by an administrative council, and designed to manage and store high-value assets for the purpose of self-financing,” Swazi explained.
The Council of Ministers also on Tuesday approved the decree revising toll rates on roads covered by the Self-Sustained Road Maintenance programme, which provides for the rehabilitation of 3,800 kilometres of road.
“The toll fees aim to ensure the participation of users in the financing of road maintenance, within the scope of the implementation of the road policy,” Swazi said.
The Mozambican government also on Tuesday approved the resolution ratifying the financing agreement, in the form of a donation, signed between Mozambique and the International Development Association (IDA), in a total amount of US$116 million (€98 million).
Another resolution approved on Tuesday concerns a US$27 million (€23 million) loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), to be used to fight Covid-19.
