Bus catches fire on Maputo city’s Avenida de Moçambique

A public transport bus caught fire while in service and in motion on Maputo’s Avenida de Moçambique this Wednesday morning (20-04).
The vehicle, which was carrying 80 passengers, came to a stop shortly after exiting the so-called Missão Roque roundabout.
There were no fatalities, Miramar learned at the scene, but some passengers were injured while fighting to get out via the bus’s front door, the back door being closed and the driver having already left the vehicle. Miramar also heard reports of children fainting, due to the smoke inside the vehicle.
