Bus bursts into flames in Maputo

A passenger bus on the Zimpeto-Baixa route in Maputo province caught fire this morning at the intersection of National Highway One and Nelson Mandela Avenue.
The bus conductor said, without disclosing his identity, that a short circuit in the vehicle’s electric had caused the incident, but that there were no injuries among the passengers, the Noticias report reads.
A National Rescue Services team stationed at the Zimpeto National Stadium was called in to quell the flames. Firefighters confirmed there had been a short circuit in the bus’s batteries but that, on arrival, had not found anyone injured.
