The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is currently visiting the families affected by the Hulene garbage dump tragedy.
Nyusi this morning visited the area surrounding Hulene garbage dump, the largest open-air dump in the country, and has spoken to families who say they need more support to leave.
The president will also visit the reception centre for the more than 100 families who have already left the Hulene B neighbourhood, and will then speak to the press.
T he president’s entourage includes Maputo City Governor Iolanda Cintura, the Maputo and Matola mayors, David Simango and Calisto Cossa, and Minister of Land, Environment and Rural Development, Celso Correia.
The head of state’s visit comes three days after the collapse at the dump killed 16 people and displaced more than 100 families.
