The Secretary General of Renamo, Manuel Bissopo was shot in the beginning of the afternoon in Beira city and is hospitalized in a private clinic in critical condition, reports Canalmoz.
The family member who confirmed the information to Canalmoz said that Bissopo was inside his car in the company of his bodyguard who died at the scene riddled with bullets.
Bissopo was dealing with logistical issues of a rally at which Dhlakama would talk to people in Beira city’s neighbourhood of Munhava today, Wednesday (january 20).
According to the Canalmoz report, today’s gunshot attack against Bissopo, who is number two in the Renamo leadership, second only to Dhlakama himself, happens at a time when government (using the police) is practically banning Renamo’s political activities in the capital of the country.
