The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) rescued on Tuesday night, in a captivity house located in the Ndlhavela neighbourhood, municipality of Matola, a citizen that the PRM identified only as Harish, kidnapped last week in the neighbourhood of Triunfo, in the city of Maputo.
According to Notícias, the rescue took place when police officers from various Specialties surrounded the residence where the victim was held hostage, at a time when the kidnappers were waiting for the ransom amount.
Orlando Mudumane, police spokesman within the city of Maputo, explained that when they realized that the police was there, the criminals put to flight, using the back of the house. The victim was abandoned on site.
The rescued victim owns the Hariche Steel Mozambique group. His kidnapping took place at the door of his residence, in the Triunfo neighbourhood, when he was entering the house, using an electronic gate.
The kidnappers, it seems, had studied his movements in detail, waiting for him nearby and when the manager opened the gate, took the opportunity to get inside the residence, guarded by an internal tv circuit.
The images of the abduction, considered the first recorded on footage, would subsequently be published on social networks. The kidnappers, who were in the vicinity, some on foot and others on a light vehicle (which ended up blocking the gate), clearly knew the routine of the victim to the point of knowing the time he usually came home.
The succeeded rescue operation, comes after the corporation have failed a first rescue attempt, last weekend, a captive located in the neighbourhood of Liberdade, also in the city of Matola.
Publicly available data indicate that the thieves abandoned the first captivity just before the police officers had arrived at the scene because they had been told that they were discovered.
