The owner of the Ayoob Comercial Group, Faruk Ayoob, was shot and injured by unknown gunmen early on Friday afternoon in front of the United States Embassy on Avenida Kenneth Kaunda in Maputo.
According to witnesses of the shooting interviewed by Folha de Maputo, the operation was carried out very quickly by gunmen in a vehicle with South African registration plates.
Ayoob is currently receiving medical treatment in the Sommerschield Clinic in Maputo.
Police secured the site immediately after the incident to begin investigations.
