A businessman was abducted yesterday in the city of Beira, Sofala province, by a group of three individuals. The kidnapping took place in the neighbourhood of Estoril, around 8 p.m., Noticias online reports.
The criminals fired several shots of a pistol-type firearm at the victim’s home and stole his vehicle, which has since been recovered and is now parked at the Republic of Mozambique Police Command in Sofala.
This is the second abduction this week, in the same city. The first one took place on Tuesday, when a nine-year-old girl was kidnapped at the school’s door. According to police, the child has already been released after the family paid the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
