The company selected to audit Mozambique’s public debt has already been identified, reports O País, stressing that it has 40 years of experience in the sector
The company that will conduct the audit of the debts of Ematum, ProIndicos and Mam is called Kroll, based in London, England, and has 40 years of audit experience in several countries.
The audit will be completed within 90 days from the date of the contract. Subsequently, the Attorney General’s Office will announce the audit results. In the selection process, five internationally renowned companies have competed.
The audit is funded by Sweden.
“The purpose of the audit is to provide an analysis of the financing contracts as well as of the funds obtained thereof, of the acquisitions made and the identification and analysis of possible irregularities in the management and use of funds,” reads the Attorney General of the Republic statement cited by O País.
With the help of the IMF and Sweden, the Attorney General has produced the Audit’s Terms of Reference. It is on this basis that the auditor was selected, but also on national regulations applying to state procurement contracts and the standards of the audit’s funder were also followed.
