The National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) has seized about five thousand meat items, mostly Brazilian chickens, from commercial establishments in Zambezia on suspicion of adulteration or deterioration.
The confiscated products are valued at about 800,000 meticais.
The Provincial Director of Industry and Commerce, Momade Juízo, told Radio Mozambique that samples had been sent to Maputo for laboratory analysis and that, if found to be unfit for human consumption, the food would be incinerated.
