The number of bodies of the passengers on a boat which sank last Thursday while crossing the Chipaca River has risen to eight.
Four bodies were found on the banks of the river in the morning, and the remainder in the afternoon high tide. Family members continue to search for their relatives in small boats.
The bridge giving the population of Madal access to the city of Quelimane became unsafe at the beginning of last year, with demands made for a safe bridge to be built.
It has now been more than a year that travellers have had to use boats to make the precarious crossing.
