Residents of Boane in Maputo province on Frirday expressed their disapproval of a message presented to President Nyusi at a popular rally led by the head of state in Mulotane administrative post, Matola-Rio.
The reading of a report on the achievements of the district government was greeted with shouts, whistles and heckling, residents denying that vaunted improvements in access roads and water distribution had taken place.
Faced with this scenario, the head of state immediately asked five members of the community to freely expose all the problems that concern the district.
Several difficulties were enumerated, with emphasis on the lack of electricity, water supply, roads, schools, hospitals and others.
The president thanked the citizens for their openness and assured them that everything that they presented as a problem would find a solution.
“I have heard your concerns about the lack of electricity, water, transportation, roads, schools and hospitals, so today I am going to meet with the executive to study possible solutions. In the area of transportation, for example, I will muster the municipalities to provide buses to this area. In the health sector, Boane will have a district hospital. As for electricity, there are technicians to expand the electricity grid under the energy for all programme,” the president said.
President Nyusi added that all the problems that residents had mentioned were already on the government’s agenda, and draft resolutions were in process.
