The medical team which is assisting António, the young man who climbed the electricity pylon on Friday causing a power cut which left the south of the country without power for several hours, says that preliminary examination results suggests that he suffers from behavioural changes, but that the results of a full psychiatric examination results will only be available on Monday.
The 23-year-old man, who was admitted to Matola provincial hospital, says he does not remember what happened on Friday, but complains that he is being denied the opportunity to join the military and serve his country.
Psychologist Élio Mudendere says that, when psychiatric problems are confirmed, only medicine and the family can play an important role in curing young people.
António is under police guard in hospital. The young man, however, does remember that he lives in the Fomento neighbourhood in Matola, and that he comes from the 7 de Abril neighbourhood in the city of Chimoio, to where he longs one day to return and be reunited with his girlfriend.
