The Beluluane Industrial Park, located in the province of Maputo, is promoting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), especially those which focus on export products, and to that end signed an agreement with the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME) in Maputo on Thursday.
Speaking to the press, Onório Boane, Director of Infrastructure Development at the Beluluane Park, explained that one type of support was for SMEs already in the park to share their experiences.
“This support is immediately available, and represents our willingness to share ways for SMEs to move into manufacturing for export,” Boane said, as quoted by AIM.
He pointed out that there were other ways of supporting SMEs, noting that Beluluane Park currently had around 600 hectares of land of which only about 100 were currently occupied.
This land already has roads, water, energy and other facilities for industrial development, so that SMEs coming to the park only have to develop their own factories.
He explained that Beluluane Park currently has 38 companies, some enjoying the benefits of a Free Zone.
“The companies in the Free Zone are dedicated to exports. We want our companies to produce for export, and the best place for that is the Beluluane Industrial Park, which enjoys all the benefits generated by the Free Zone,” he said.
IPEME director Claire Zimba said the agreement “opens a new celebration agenda for the company, bringing something concrete in the context of supporting and promoting SMEs, an operational commitment that will help boost the production and promotion of these vital national companies”.
The Beluluane Industrial Park is the largest of its kind in Mozambique, and is particularly targeted at promoting new investment in the country.
