The Beluluane Industrial Park (BIP) and the Boane District Government signed on Monday, 2nd November 2020, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that establishes a new relationship between the Boane District Government and BIP. At yesterday’s event donations of IT equipment and the provision of free internet service at the Matola-Rio Administrative Post were also officialised.
The MoU signed by the two parties is an important step as part of the growth of the local community and should contribute to the effectiveness of the district’s public administration. Among the equipment and services donated by BIP to the Matola-Rio Administrative Post, the laptop, the printer and the provision of free internet will be very important to facilitate and streamline the delivery of public services provided by the administrative post to the local community, including companies based in the region.
The Administrator of the Boane District, Teresa Helena Boaventura Mauaie, praised the importance of partnerships between the government and the private sector: “This MoU shows us that public entities should not only rely on the state budget; we also have to invest more in partnerships with the private sector. The gesture made by BIP is to be commended and shows that the company is interested in contributing to the growth and development of local communities, as well as the district in general.”
BIP is working in a range of areas with the aim of supporting the development of the country, the province of Maputo and the District of Boane (where the park is located), including the creation of more than 500 jobs in 2020, the provision of more than 300 paid professional internships for young people in the province of Maputo, the donation of hospital equipment and protective materials for health professionals to the Provincial Directorate of Health to help the Covid-19 response, among others.
“We want to make it possible for young people who live close to the Matola Rio Administrative Post to have access to the internet for their studies and professional needs, allowing them, from time to time, to benefit from the free internet service that will now be provided by BIP”, declared Onório Boane, General Manager of the Beluluane Industrial Park.
