Mozambique: Businessmen complain about fraudulent charges in Importation of medicines

Sofala province capital city of Beira is hosting a logistics and trade conference this Wednesday, aimed at exploring the business potential and investment opportunities in the central region of Mozambique, as well as in the hinterland countries.
During the event, which is part of the celebrations of Standard Bank’s 130th anniversary, the strategic role of the city of Beira as a logistics hub will be highlighted, as it is home to the country’s second largest port and second largest industrial park.
Given its strategic location and vast chain of logistics infrastructures, Beira contributes to regional integration, allowing hinterland countries access to various regional and international markets.
Standard Bank, the event’s organizer, has distinguished itself as one of the main financiers and promoters of growth in the logistics and trade sectors, including other cross-cutting areas that play a significant role in the implementation of various projects, for example, in all the development corridors in operation in the country (Maputo, Beira and Nacala Corridors).
The conference is being attended by key players in the trade and logistics sector in Beira and the rest of the country, who will discuss the investment potential, innovation in the sector, as well as strategies to empower local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Senior advisor for Agriculture and Trade Value Chains of the African Union in Ghana, Prosper Komla Bissi, was also expected to participate, as well as representatives from the companies Ports and Railways of Mozambique (CFM), Terramar, of the Beira Commercial Association, Transcom and Cornelder de Moçambique, among other guests.
Standard Bank will be represented at the event by its Chair of the Board of Directors, Esselina Macome, Managing Director, Bernardo Aparício, as well as senior managers who will take part in two debate panels, addressing the themes “The Development Corridor: Investment Opportunities in Beira” and “Establishing a Resilient Value Chain”.
It is important to highlight that, in parallel with this event, Standard Bank will also be promoting other social and sports activities in Beira city, associated with the celebrations of its 130th anniversary in Mozambique.
A tree planting campaign will be held on the city’s main roads on the 11th, with a view to contributing to the preservation and conservation of the environment.
