Beaten to death in Matola

A young man accused of theft was beaten to death on Tuesday morning in the Matibjana neighbourhood of Matola municipality.
The young man, who is alleged to have entered a residence in Block 4 of the Matibjana neighbourhood to steal cell phones, was beaten until he lost his strength and collapsed.
According to one of the neighbourhood residents the man, in his attempt to flee, bit the owner of the house where he was stealing mobile phones, but ended up being neutralised by the population.
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Maputo says it is already on the ground working to identify those responsible for the man’s death.
