The Mozambican beach soccer team lost in the final of the African Nations Championship, which took place in Dakar, by four to one, to hosts and defending champions Senegal.
Mozambique’s Nelson Manuel received two individual accolades – best player of the tournament and top scorer, with ten goals.
The trophy and medals were presented by Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe who was among the dignitaries in attendance on a memorable day for Senegal, as they followed up triumphs in 2016 and 2018 with further success.
The day concluded with Mozambique receiving the CAF flag during a closing ceremony, acknowledging the country as the next hosts of the tournament [in 2022]
It was also time to pass the testimony to the next competition organizer.
At the closing ceremony, the President of the Mozambican Football Federation, Feizal Sidat, received from his Senegalese counterpart, Oumar Gueye, the “testimony” as organiser of the next 20222 AFCON Beach Soccer tournament which will take place in Vilankulo, Inhambane province.
