Mozambique: Nelsa Guambe opens solo exhibition in Maputo
The awards ceremony for the winners of the 2024 Ngoma Mozambique 2024 took place in Maputo last Friday (14-03). This annual Mozambican music competition, organized by Radio Mozambique, once again featured the participation of BCI.
In this 37th edition of Ngoma, BCI sponsored the ‘Best Female Voice’ award won by Onésia Muholove.
The award was presented by the President of the Executive Committee of BCI, Francisco Costa.
At the ceremony, Francisco Costa reaffirmed BCI’s commitment to continue supporting Mozambican culture, highlighting the importance of valuing not only established artists, but also new talents.
“This project [Ngoma Mozambique] creates a dynamic for the emergence of new artists in Mozambique, which is why BCI joined this programme from the very beginning, with a view to further promoting national culture,” he said.
Support for the arts and culture is one of the pillars of BCI’s activities, with the aim of actively participating in the sustainable development of Mozambique.
BCI has been a constant partner of the Ngoma Mozambique initiative, the largest music parade in Mozambique, which has established itself as a key instrument in promoting Mozambican music and the visibility of national artists.
In fact, this is the 17th consecutive year that BCI has collaborated with Radio Mozambique, through Ngoma, in promoting music, culture and the identity of the people. The initiative contributes to the preservation, appreciation and dissemination of the best of Mozambican music, in addition to creating favourable conditions for the identification and emergence of new talents.
The 2024 edition of Ngoma Moçambique included the following award categories: Best Song, Most Voted Song, Best Voice (Male and Female), Career Award and Newcomer Award.
