BAU becomes public institute, with services complementary to registration and licensing in Mozambique

As part of the Economic Acceleration Measures Package, the government has transformed the BAU Single Service Desks system into a public institute with services complementary to registration and licensing in Mozambique, such as investment authorization services or energy. water, communications and access to land.

With the elevation to Category B public institute, the BAU will – in addition to the services such as that registration and licensing of economic activity, registration and notary, migration, transport, registration and civil identification and the collection of taxes and fees that the these public service units have provided since 2007 – also issue NUITs (Taxpayer Single Identification Number cards], energy, water, communications and land access services, as well as investment authorizations.

At the same time, the BAU has the responsibility of, gradually, use the electronic platform for licensing in all of its operational units throughout the country.
