Frelimo Secretary General Roque Silva on Wednesday launched the rehabilitation of infrastructure used by Frelimo guerrillas in Bagamoyo, Tanzania, during the National Liberation Struggle, as part of the commemorations of the 60th anniversary of the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (Frelimo).
Rehabilitation is expected to be completed by June 25, 2022.
The project includes the residence where Samora Machel lived, the guerrillas’ refectory and kitchen, dormitories, and the classrooms where some of the combatants and their children studied.
Roque Silva said that the place was one of the birthplaces of the National Liberation Struggle and could be an excellent tourist destination for people from various parts of the country and the region.
“The place can be a great source of inspiration for the youth in the struggle to maintain the ideals of our parties,” he said, referring to Frelimo and Chama Chá Mapindizi (CCM), “and in the current challenges of the fight against terrorism and for the development of our countries.”
Roque Silva also highlighted the fact that the launch was taking place on the birthday of deceased Mozambican president, Samora Moisés Machel.
