The confirmation of Augusto Mbazo as head of list of MDM was given by the mayoral candidate himself.
In addition to having been appointed head of the MDM bench in the Maputo Municipal Assembly to replace Ismael Nhacucue, Mbazo is now the MDM head of list, replacing Venâncio Mondlane, who also left the MDM for Renamo.
Mbazo has as opponents, at least from parties with seats in parliament, Venancio Mondlane, of Renamo, and Eneas Comiche, of Frelimo.
Augusto Mbazo said that his nomination was the result of grassroots selection, adding that more details would be forthcoming at an official MDM press conference.
Augusto Mbazo is part of the National Council of the MDM. His name as head of the list was handed over to the National Election Commission (CNE) at the weekend, as part of the process of submitting candidacies for the municipal elections on October 10.
