A businessman has escaped death despite being shot three times.
The shooting which almost took his life occurred during a robbery in which the robbers stole just less than 100,000 meticais.
At 10 p.m. on Sunday night (March 20), a group of five individuals armed with a pistol broke into the home of the businessman in the village of Boane.
The businessman was shot in the abdomen, the hip and the buttock, and was in hospital until Thursday.
Having tied her husband tied, bandits separated the couple with the intention of raping the wife and stealing the car.
A neighbour who happened to be in the street after the robbery unfortunately crossed paths with the thugs, who tortured her and her mother-in-law.
Intense police work resulted in the arrest of the five involved in the robbery, who, although identified by the victims, deny their involvement in the crime.
The police say the five are habitual criminals.
