Continuing attacks in some districts of Cabo Delgado are a source of concern to Frelimo structures in the northern province.
José Kalime, Frelimo’s first secretary in Cabo Delgado, says their worries centre around the threat to the province’s future.
Kalime is calling for the party’s experience of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation to be put to use fighting insurgents in the province.
The concerns were expressed at the opening of the IV Ordinary Session of the Provincial Committee, where Kalime recalled reflections on practical defence and security actions made at the party’s 11th Congress.
“The political-military situation in our province proves the correctness of the pragmatic thinking developed at the 11th Congress,” Kalime noted.
The IV Ordinary Session of the Provincial Committee brings together more than 100 cadres from right across Cabo Delgado.
