The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) officially launched its handholding technical support programme with the Autoridade Tributária de Moçambique focusing on real audit cases in the banking and telecommunications sectors from 4–8 August 2025.
This initiative—delivered in partnership with TEDI (Taxing Efficiently for Developing Inclusively), Mozambique marks a significant step in enhancing Autoridade Tributária de Moçambique capacity to audit two of the most complex and revenue-critical sectors of the economy.
Unlike traditional training, ATAF’s approach is practical and case-based, covering the entire audit spectrum, from case selection through to case closure. This hands-on model ensures that the revenue authority audit officials build not only theoretical knowledge but also practical expertise directly applicable to their ongoing work.
It is anticipated that the programme will lead to significant additional tax assessments and collections, strengthening Mozambique’s domestic resource mobilisation efforts while fostering a more transparent and efficient tax system.
This initiative underscores ATAF’s commitment to delivering tangible impact through tailored technical support, empowering African tax administrations to address sector-specific challenges and secure the revenues needed for sustainable development.
