As part of their commitment to sustainable development and workforce empowerment in Mozambique, ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada (EMML), on behalf of the Area 4 partners (ExxonMobil, Eni, CNPC, KOGAS, XRG, ENH), and as operator of Rovuma LNG, together with Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos E.P. (ENH), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a state-of-the-art Centro Tecnológico de Moçambique (CTM) in Zimpeto, Maputo City. CTM will be dedicated to building the capacity of the Mozambican workforce. The Area 4 partners aim to invest more than USD 40 million to construct this project.
Developed in collaboration with the Government of Mozambique and ENH, and to be co-operated by ENH’s training arm, ENH TRAINING S.A., CTM will focus on developing technical “hands-on” skills of Mozambicans, preparing them for opportunities in the energy and industrial sectors. At its onset, CTM will offer curricula in Process Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Mechanical Maintenance, with both domestic and international accreditation, including training Mozambican Process Operators and Maintenance Technicians who will ensure the safe operation of the Rovuma LNG facility. Additional programs are expected to be introduced in the future to meet Mozambique’s evolving needs—extending beyond the energy sector and supporting broader development.
CTM will feature classrooms, training workshops, residential facilities, and a Live Plant Demonstrator Unit, where students will gain hands-on experience with work processes and challenges in a safe and controlled learning environment.
“Our aim is to empower Mozambique’s workforce. The Centro Tecnológico de Moçambique will be a vital resource in fostering the broad sharing of energy development benefits—building skills that will remain incountry.” — Frank Kretschmer, Chairman, EMML.
“Training and capacity building for Mozambicans is a priority. This initiative is another important step we are taking to ensure that the living force of the work of Mozambicans result in the development of the sector, the country and the region.” — Ludovina Bernardo, Chief Executive Officer, ENH.
