The government has urged Mozambican society to present any social demands in a well-informed way, stressing that, regardless of the nature of the claims, they should be resolved through dialogue.
This was the position enunciated in Maputo on Monday by President Nyusi in relation to the armed incursions in the province of Cabo Delgado.
“These are hideous acts that disgust everyone, because they violate public order and sow mourning and pain in Mozambican families, as well as causing panic among the populations. This situation agitates our communities, as, in addition to homicides and injuries to innocent citizens, they vandalize villages and steal the produce from the people. The position of the government is that any claim of any sector of the population, whether legitimate or not, should be presented in the appropriate place and by means of dialogue, which is the best way to achieve objectives,” he said.
Speaking during the forty-third anniversary of national independence, the president said that the government would do everything it could to neutralize the armed men sowing terror and mourning in Cabo Delgado.
Regarding the broader peace, he said that the disarmament of Renamo was a matter of urgency, and that there was no alternative to the process.
