Mozambican president announces civil society participation in discussions on state reforms
Benedito Silva Corole, an influential Renamo member, was shot dead on Monday morning, 14 October, at the administrative post of Mugeba, Mocuba district, in Zambézia province, in an action that Renamo attributes to death squads.
According to Renamo sources cited by Canalmoz, Benedito Silva Corole was killed by unidentified individuals still at large while in his shop at the village headquarters.
A Renamo spokesman in Zambézia province reported that the assassination occurred around 8:00 a.m. in the local market, where Benedito Corole had his shop.
According to the same source, a car arrived at the scene, an armed man got out and shot Corole dead.
The crime was committed in close proximity to a police unit.
