Another minibus protest rumbles on in Maputo – Watch

Minibus drivers on the Xipamanine route again stopped working in protest at being obliged to approach the terminal along Avenida de Angola.

The drivers want to continue using the shortest route, via Rua do Mercado Vulcano, and also via Avenida Gago Coutinho, which also ends up going along Rua do Mercado Vulcano.

City authorities had decided to oblige carriers to use Avenida da Angola instead.

The decision has not gone down well with carriers, who left the Xipamanine terminal almost deserted and lacking minibuses for routes such as Manhiça-Xipamanine, Cidade da Matola, Marracuene, Malhazine, Zona Verde, Facim, Marracuene and other destinations usually served by the Xipamanine terminal.

There was no immediate return to normality, with the routes affected still compromised on Monday afternoon.
