Angola’s flagship airline reinstates route to Maputo

Angolan air carrier Taag will resume flights to Mozambique from the end of October with two weekly flights between Luanda and Maputo, at times that will allow connections to Portugal and South America, said the airline’s spokesman, Carlos Vicente.

TAAG will operate the flights, beginning on 2 November, using a Boeing 737-700 aircraft.

In addition to direct links to Portugal (Lisbon and Porto), the times of flights to Mozambique will, according to the company spokesman in a statement to Portuguese news agency Lusa will offer access to two weekly flights from Luanda to Havana (Cuba), which in turn will stopover on Sal island, Cape Verde. The same goes for Brazil, to where a single overnight flight will link Luanda / Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, from November.

Mozambican airline LAM suspended the Luanda-Maputo route on 1 July due to financial and operational difficulties.
