Angolan airline Linhas Aéreas de Angola (TAAG) has hired an Airbus A330 aircraft from HiFly to operate the Luanda-Lisbon-Luanda route, from 15 June for three months, when maintenance work will be carried out on the airline’s international fleet.
According to a statement from the company, the Airbus A330 aircraft will be hired from HiFly on a wet-lease basis, a type of contract that provides the full crew, maintenance and insurance of the aircraft in addition to the aircraft.
“This decision coincides with the maintenance work that TAAG is carrying out on part of its international fleet, namely the Boeing 777-300ER,” the statement said.
This strategy, the company said, “allows for continuity and regularity of operation on the Luanda-Lisbon link, which is in high demand.
It is a “collaborative solution” and “typical in commercial aviation” that “allows TAAG to ensure coverage of one of the preferred routes and with the highest volume of traffic.
