Angolan airline TAAG announced on Tuesday that it would resume its cargo transport link between Luanda and the European hub of Liége (Belgium) through an annual leasing agreement for a Boeing 747-400F freighter.
According to a company statement, TAAG expects to handle around 320 tonnes of various types of cargo per month with this operation.
The partnership with Network Airline Management (NAM), an entity specialising in freighter fleet management, aims to guarantee a segment considered strategic for TAAG, which seeks to provide international connections for economic agents and support for industry, both for Angola and other countries in the region.
The flights will be operated on Fridays from António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), Luanda’s new airport, on a Boeing 747-400F freighter with a cargo capacity of up to 120 tonnes.
“This freighter will meet the demand indicators and cargo mobilisation needs of various clients, namely in the industrial sector and the oil and gas ecosystem,” says the press release.
The Luanda – Liége route has a flight duration of nine hours and is the cargo route with the greatest contribution in terms of revenue and volume of cargo transported, with 2,712,009 kilos recorded in 2023.
