Angola’s state oil company Sonangol on Wednesday said that it signed with Norway’s multinational Equinor a new memorandum of cooperation for joint oil exploration activities in the Baixo Congo basin.
In a statement sent to Lusa, Sonangol said that the memorandum also aims to discuss the models of operators for joint licences that allow it to develop its competence as an oil operator and a hydrocarbons company of reference.
On the other hand, it provides for the sharing of experiences for the transformation of Sonangol into a commercial oil company and the identification of potential future joint investments.
The signing of this document results from the understanding reached between the two companies in June 2018, “which allowed the successful implementation of some activities by the parties,” the statement said.
At the end of June 2018, the two companies signed the first memorandum of understanding, which then foresaw the enlargement and deepening of cooperation between the two companies in the areas of management, logistics, finance and research in the oil sector, especially in 5/06 and 18/15 blocks.
