The programmes manager of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ricardo Godinho Gomes, said last Monday, in Luanda, that the seminar on Public Finance in African Portuguese-speaking Countries Community (PALOP) and East-Timor will strengthen the capacity of parliamentary commissions that deal with budgets.
Speaking to the press, about the seminar that is to kick off this Tuesday and close on Thursday, in Luanda, Godinho Gomes said that this event will enable PALOP and East-Timor MPs to be in contact with legal tools and the best practices for them to do the legislative supervision work appropriately.
This training programme is being promoted by the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) in partnership with the UNDP and the European Union (EU).
The seminar is designed for MPs and senior staffs of PALOP parliaments, as well as the East-Timor Parliament, and the topics are o be lectured by national and foreign experts in budget, financers and public expenditure.
The work team at the event is also made up of representatives of Portugal’s Technical and Budget Unit of the Portuguese Republic Assembly (Parliament).
This is the second seminar designed for MPs and senior staffs of PALOP parliaments and the East-Timor Parliament. The first one took place in the year 2015, in Mozambique.
The African Portuguese-speaking Countries Community (PALOP) is comprised of Angola, Mozambique, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé e Príncipe.
