The torrential rains that fell Tuesday over Luanda left 1,770 people homeless and 554 homes flooded, the spokesman for the Angolan Civil Protection and Fire Service said on Wednesday.
Faustino Minguês, who was making a statement after three hours of torrential rains, said that four people had died and three were reported missing.
He also said that due to the rains some rainwater retention basins had overflowed and there had also been a fall of electricity pylons and seven trees, some of which had fallen on vehicles.
He noted that the obstruction of drains, due to the amount of solid waste carried by the waters, forced firefighters to open some drains to clear water on roads and residences.
