The governments of Angola and Mozambique will sign five legal instruments on Friday to strengthen cooperation in the areas of transport, culture, social action and tourism.
The documents will be signed during the working visit that the president of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, is making today and Saturday to Angola.
Agreements on air services, the merchant navy, and ports are expected to be signed by Angola’s transport minister and Mozambique’s foreign affairs and cooperation minister.
Angola’s foreign minister and his Mozambican counterpart will sign a memorandum of understanding on social action and gender equality.
The Angolan culture minister and the Mozambican foreign minister will initial the Executive Programme for Cooperation in the Cultural Field between Angola and Mozambique for the 2025-2028 period.
Another memorandum of understanding between the Mozambican Tourism Institute (Inatur I.P.) and the Angolan Tourism Institute (Infortur) will also be signed.
The president of Mozambique arrived this morning at the Presidential Palace in Luanda for a private meeting with his counterpart, João Lourenço.
According to the programme, while the two heads of state hold official talks, delegations from the two countries will also meet. This will be followed by the signing of agreements and statements to the press by the two presidents.
On this two-day visit, at the invitation of João Lourenço, to strengthen bilateral relations and identify opportunities for investment and economic cooperation, Daniel Chapo is accompanied by a delegation that includes the minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Maria dos Santos Lucas, the minister of minerals and energy, Estevão Pale, the minister of economy, Basílio Muhate, and the minister of transport and logistics, João Matlombe, as well as the secretary of state for the treasury and budget, Amílcar Tivane.
In addition to the meeting with João Lourenço, Daniel Chapo’s programme includes a visit to the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) to identify “investment and business opportunities to be developed in Angola” and attendance at a dinner in his honour hosted by the Angolan Banking Association (ABANC).
