Interior Minister of Angola, Ângelo Veiga Tavares, visits Mozambique on Thursday for strengthening cooperation in the field of security and public order, officials cited by Lusa said in Luanda.
A press release of the Interior Ministry, sent to the Lusa agency, says that during his three day vist Angelo Veiga Tavares must also be received in audience by the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi.
The visit by the Angolan minister of Mozambique also aims to identify new subjects of common interest for cooperation.
The Ministries of Interior of Angola and Mozambique develop their cooperation within the General Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Security and Internal Order, signed in 2003, and the Additional Protocol of Cooperation in the Police Domain, signed in 2008 between the general commands of Police of the two countries.
The cooperation between the two state bodies is developed based on these two legal instruments, which regulate and define the outlines of cooperation between the parties in the areas of staff training, technical assistance, institutional support, equipment supply, consultations, exchange of delegations and sharing information.
According to the document distributed to the press, the Angolan official will, during his visit, complete the negotiation process for the signing of the Visa Facilitation Agreement on ordinary passports, to stimulate the circulation of people and goods.
Angelo Veiga Tavares is accompanied on this visit, which ends on Sunday, by a delegation comprising the general commander of the National Police, general-director of the Criminal Investigation Service, the Immigration and Foreigners, Civil and Fire Protection, among other officials of his Ministry.
