The cabin decompression of an aeroplane from the TAAG Angola Airlines on Sunday forced an emergency landing of a Boeing 737-700 in Luanda, injuring four people, the airline said on Monday.
According to the airline, the flight from Luanda destined to Namibe (south), with 74 passengers and six crew members on board, suffered a “sudden depressurization” while flying at “cruising speed” which is around 900km/h, and returned to the Angolan capital after the crew took the emergency actions of the safety protocol.
According to TAAG, four passengers were injured because of the pressure loss and two of them were transported to a hospital as soon as the aircraft safely landed at Luanda airport.
“These situations, although rare, happen in the air transport industry, and all measures are already being taken to address the causes that led to this incident,” the airline said.
TAAG also added that the normal operation of the airline “may suffer some changes and operational readjustment” in the upcoming days.
