Portuguese-language countries a priority for Mota-Engil - interview
British Airways is going to suspend its flights between London and Luanda as of June as they are no longer viable an official source at the airline told Lusa on Thursday.
The flights, which were twice a week between the two countries will be stopped after 7 June (to Angola) and 9 June (to Heathrow).
British Airways said “the flights are not commercially viable”, and that passengers who already had tickets for after the suspension date “will get a full refund or they can alter their journey to an earlier date”.
The lack of passengers had already led Iberia to suspend its three flights a week between Luanda and Madrid in June 2016.
Other companies, such as Portuguese TAP have also restricted payment in Angolan kwanzas only to flights starting in Luanda, because of a lack of hard currency to repatriate the dividends.
