The National Roads Administration (ANE) is investing around 34 million meticais in strengthening road signage in Maputo province with the aim of reducing the number of road accidents, ‘Noticias’ reports.
The information was provided by ANE provincial delegate Rubina Noormamad, who stressed that some work had already been carried, but the deadline was extended into this year due to inclement weather.
Noormamad said that the 34 million meticais was being invested in two projects on National Road Number One (EN1), some in the section between Brigada Montada and the Zimpeto neighbourhood in Maputo.
This latter work consists of painting the main crossings, walkways and continuous and discontinuous lines. Budgeted at 16.9 million meticais, it also includes the placement of signs at bus stops, as well as signage for destinations outside the country’s capital.
