In the course of monitoring the passability of the road network over the current rainy season, the National Roads Administration (ANE) has reported the collapse of part of the deck of the bridge over the Revubue river; flooding on the access roads to the bridge over the Kassuende river; the temporary closure of the bridge over the Licungo River in Malei on the Namacurra-Maganja da Costa Road, due to the rise in the flow of the Licungo River; and the consequent overtopping of accesses and wash-outs of intermediate landfill.
In light of this scenario, continuous assessment of the damage is ongoing and the restoration of normal transitability on the national road network is scheduled for as soon as weather conditions permit.
“ANE again appeals to transporters and the general public to observe the precautionary measures in force during the rainy season, especially the ban on the circulation of large-tonnage trucks on earthen roads on rainy days and those immediately following,” a press release from ANE reads.
The passage of the Tropical Storm ANA has caused damage to both life and infrastructure from high flows of rainwater in hydrographic basins in the country, especially in the central and northern regions.
